The Unicorn series ran from 1994 until 1997 with coins released in platinum, gold and silver. The unicorn is a mythological creature and has been described as the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. The Chinese Unicorn is referred to as ‘“Qi-Lin,” and it’s appearance is different to the Western depictions of the Unicorn both of which can be seen throughout the series on both sides of each coin.
