Other Chinese coins encompass all categories of coins that are not a part of the Chinese panda coin or Lunar coin groups. Generally lesser known to collectors outside of China, these coins have significant portrayals of important moments in Chinese history, for example those that relate to the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 as well as recognizing important politicians and statesmen such as Deng Xiaoping and Mao Zedong, artists like Xu Beihong and Qi Baishi and sport themed coins from various years including Olympic commemoratives from 1980 when China joined the International Olympic Committee and 2008, when the PRC hosted the Olympic Games in Beijing.
