On July 4, 2022, Bangkok time, leading celebrities and the private sector joined the Blue Carpet Show for UNICEF 2022, a charity-themed variety show, to mobilize support for children in need in Thailand and around the world, particularly those most vulnerable and facing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was televised by a local TV network called Channel 7HD and hosted by UNICEF, a world-renowned charitable organization. As one of the sponsors, CoinEx Charity Thailand attended the Blue Carpet Show, which brought together top Thai celebrities, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists to raise charitable donations for poor children around the world.
In his film, Friend of UNICEF Peck Palitchoke Ayanaputra told the story of how UNICEF Magic Box sets of books and toys helped young children in Bangkok’s Klong Toey community continue their play and learning despite COVID-19 disruption. Kem Hussawee, an actor from Channel 7HD, shared the stories of children with severe acute malnutrition in Malawi, while UNICEF Thailand Goodwill Ambassador Anand Panyarachun explained how UNICEF’s Blue Dot refugee support centres have helped children and families fleeing the war in Ukraine. With short videos, the show put a spotlight on the challenges facing children around the world and called for public support.
The campaign so far raised 10.9 million baht with supporters becoming a part of UNICEF’s work to deliver aid that creates lasting change for children as well as addressing children’s immediate needs. In addition to the funds raised during the live event, UNICEF also released limited-edition merchandise that include Teddy Blu T-shirts and bracelets at a press conference on June 16. The donations and the proceeds from the sales of merchandise will all be used to help kids in need.
