BlockBeats News, May 12th - Three U.S. officials stated that after negotiations with Iran reached an impasse on Sunday, President Trump met with his national security team on Monday to discuss the next steps regarding the Iran war, which may include resuming military action.
The officials said that Trump is hoping to reach an agreement to end the war, but Iran has rejected many of his demands and refused to make meaningful concessions on the nuclear program, leading to the reconsideration of military options. Trump has publicly threatened several times in recent days to bomb Iran's infrastructure if diplomatic efforts fail.
Officials mentioned that one option is to target 25% of the objectives identified by the U.S. military but not yet hit. Vice President Pence, U.S. Envoy Hook, Secretary of State Pompeo, Secretary of Defense Esper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dunford, CIA Director Haspel, and other senior officials are expected to participate in the meeting on the Iran issue.
