BlockBeats News, May 26th - According to official sources, Optimism has announced that the OP Mainnet will adjust its transaction ordering rules for the first time starting today. For many years, the sequencer has only used the "highest priority gas fee first" mechanism, and now an additional option based on staking priority has been added.

This experiment will last for four weeks (until June 23rd), approved by the Optimism governance body earlier this month, and users can choose to participate. The participation requirement is to stake no less than 100,000 OP tokens to the PolicyEngineStaking contract.

The experiment is divided into two phases: the first phase (Week 1) will use a FIFO (First In, First Out) ordering, where staking amount above the minimum threshold does not affect the priority. The second phase (Weeks 2-4) will switch to a mechanism where the priority gas multiplier is based on staking duration, with longer staking times receiving higher priority. Users who do not participate in the experiment will have transaction ordering rules unchanged, and the PGA mechanism will continue to operate as usual.
