Experimental Finance (ExFi) is FLR Finance's testing ground on the Songbird Network. As developments progress from the Coston Testnet, they will be staged on Songbird. Here, they can be tested against external economic effects not present on a testnet such as general market sentiment, volatilty and general human nature when value is at stake. As such, this does present some inherent risks when products are initially launched such as loss of experimental value through illiquid markets, hacks, bugs and exploitation attempts of any economic mechanisms that a product may have. Once products and features have been thoroughly tested on Experimental Finance and audited, they will then be introduced to the production-ready mainnet instance of FLR Finance on the Flare Network. Both instances of the ecosystem will exist concurrently on their respective networks. This dual-platform approach will enable new features and products to be developed and rigorously tested without disruption to the mainnet ecosystem, while leaving much of the risk to the Experimental Finance ecosystem.
