Trump said, "We will police that region, but we're not going to be policing it for any other country. That's a tiny sliver. That's not a large part of our thinking." He did not elaborate on what measures the United States would take to ensure safe passage of vessels through the strait. Trump's remarks cast doubt on whether an immediate breakthrough could be achieved between the United States and Iran.

Earlier, both sides had indicated progress in recent days, leading to optimism in the market for a deal. However, the situation in the strait remains a key sticking point in the negotiations.
