BlackRock Leads $12 Billion Debt Financing to Support Meta's Texas Data Center Project

BlockBeats News, July 21st, according to The Wall Street Journal report, BlackRock is leading a $12 billion debt financing for Meta's new data center project in El Paso, Texas. BlackRock and its infrastructure and private credit arms will hold 80% equity in the project, with Meta holding the remaining 20%. The campus is expected to have around 1 gigawatt capacity.

JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley are leading this large-scale debt issuance and are reaching out to other potential investors. The project structure is similar to Meta's Louisiana data center, where Blue Owl holds 80% equity in a joint venture, Meta holds 20%, and construction is supported by debt financing.

In addition, Meta has agreed to lease a large data center project developed by Aligned Data Centers supported by BlackRock in Shippingport, Pennsylvania. BlackRock has been expanding its AI data center investments over the past year, including the $40 billion acquisition of Aligned Data Centers.

BlackRock was also a significant investor in Meta's $27 billion private debt financing for the Louisiana data center and bought over $3 billion in bonds in that transaction.
