On July 20th local time, the White House issued a statement announcing that the U.S. will impose an additional 50% ad valorem tariff on certain products from Canada in response to "Canada's discriminatory measures against the U.S. in the trade of automobiles and automotive parts." The new tariff is set to take effect from 12:01 a.m. EST on August 19th and will be imposed on top of existing customs duties, taxes, and other charges. (CCTV)
