BlockBeats News, August 13th, a user experienced an anomaly due to an auto-escalating fee RBF script, paying a fee of 1.60 BTC, approximately $102,800, in a single transaction without sending any BTC to the recipient. The transaction was included in Bitcoin block number 962142 on August 12th.
According to on-chain records, the transaction had only one input of 160,343,885 satoshis, all of which was ultimately paid as a fee to the miner with 0 output. The reason behind this was that the user's automated script was increasing the RBF fee every second but did not set a reasonable fee cap, leading to the fee gradually consuming the entire input amount. The block was mined by SpiderPool, with this transaction contributing to about 88% of the block's total fee of approximately 1.82 BTC.
