ai16zeliza is a meme coin bulit on Solana. ai16zeliza is a combination of two words, ail6z and Eliza. ai16z is a conversational agent for X (previously Twitter) and Discord, named after one of the first AI chatbots created in the 1960s.

Eliza, founded by Shaw, is used to create AI replicas of real persons (dead or alive) and fictitious characters. For example, ai16z’s community includes a version of its founder, Marc Andreessen, known as pmairca. Others include Degen Spartan, a cryptocurrency trader, and Darth Vadar from Star Wars.

These AI agents have served as the main characters for several memefunds. Memefunds are formed using the Solana-based launcher Daos.fun, which allows users to engage in unique VC-style funds that invest in popular memecoins and trending web3-AI projects.

Background and history of ai16zeliza

A group of anonymous developers launched a token by the name Eliza, which Shaw, the Founder, did not know about, and it is alleged that Shaw stated on November 9 that if someone wanted to deploy Eliza as an AI agent and tokenize it, he would allow it and that ai16z would not be creating a coin, but that other developers might be interested in the task.

As a result, on November 16, a group of anonymous developers launched an Eliza token called ai16zeliza (ticker: Eliza) through the token launcher vvaifu.fun. By November 19, this token’s market capitalization has hit approximately $50 million. Shaw’s posts on X indicate that he neither supported nor opposed the token. He did update a post detailing the project’s 70 million token transfer to the ai16z treasury.

Another report stated that Shaw had been working on the AI project for a long time and his token idea for a few weeks with an external partner, and this is why he went ahead with it anyway, despite the other token’s launch.

On Monday, November 18, 2024, ai16z and Ryze Labs partnered to launch an “AICombinator” program and a $5 million fund aimed at supporting the growth of the ai16z ecosystem. According to a statement, project founders will receive early access to use newly launched features on ai16z’s Eliza framework as part of the initiative.
