Introduction

Rus Yusupov, co-creator of the renowned Vine app, is shaking up the crypto world by launching his own meme coin, the VINE token. Following in the footsteps of other viral tokens such as TRUMP and MELANIA, VINE is delivering a heavy dose of nostalgia—along with some major market action.

VINE’s market value surpassed $100 million in just one hour after its inception, and its current valuation skyrocketed to a market value of $240 million, hovering around $200 million.

Since its launch, the VINE token has risen by 196,000%, and many traders have taken advantage of it.

What is the VINE token about, how did it start, and what are some of its utility? Continue reading to find out.

What is Vine Coin (VINE Token)

Vine is a meme coin built on the Solana blockchain. VINE Token is a cryptocurrency inspired by Vine’s initial goal and inspired by Vine’s initial mission of bringing people together and recognizing our uniqueness. VINE token honors the Vine platform, a short video platform similar to TikTok that allows users to make and share 10-second films on social networks that influenced culture with millions of creative videos by representing the beauty of togetherness and creation.

Rus Yusupov, the co-founder of Vine, initially started Vine to try to bring people together and reveal what makes us all so special. Vine impacted culture. Millions of videos were posted. Rus said this about the VINE token: “I am launching this coin to commemorate the beauty of togetherness and creation. I will not sell the dev tokens, and all profits will be donated to X, which has become a beacon for free speech and self-expression.”

Background and History of Vine (VINE Token)

Vine is a short video platform similar to TikTok that allows users to make and share 10-second films on social networks. Dom Hofmann, Rus Yusupov, and Colin Kroll created the platform in June 2012. Vine was acquired by Twitter (now known as X) in October 2012; however, the company announced its shutdown on October 27, 2016, as part of a corporate reorganization strategy.

After Musk bought Twitter, he constantly emphasized his desire to resurrect Vine on social media. On October 31, 2022, Musk launched a Twitter poll asking if Twitter’s short video program Vine should be restored. The findings showed that 69.6% of the users who voted favored Vine’s resurrection.

After the voting results were released, Musk immediately asked the Twitter technical team to restart the short video program Vine on November 1, 2022, claiming that it would be ready by the end of the year, but it was never completed.

On April 18, 2024, Musk launched the same poll on the X platform, asking if Vine should be resurrected. Meme currencies on Ethereum had already emerged by 2024; therefore, there were numerous Vine memecoins with the same name on Ethereum at the time, with the largest market value reaching $7 million USD, which has since returned to zero.

Previously, Vine, the short video platform, announced the issuing of VINE tokens and posted a video confirming that the account had not been stolen. Musk stated on January 19 that the X platform was considering resuming the Vine service, but this time, he did not hold a vote. On that day, a user on the X platform tagged Musk and remarked, “It’s time to restart Vine,” to which Musk replied that he was considering it.

Although there are many meme currencies on the market bearing the name Vine, neither Vine nor Musk have acknowledged or associated with any of them.

Rus Yusupov, one of Vine’s co-founders, released a meme currency with the same name on January 23, which is rather dramatic. Despite selling Vine to Twitter 4 months after its inception, the creator’s VINE immediately became the market leader because of his status as a pioneer. Other meme currencies bearing the same name are close to zero.

But FOMO isn’t over. Rus Yusupov announced this afternoon that all VINE tokens held by developers have been frozen until April 20 and will remain locked until Vine is relaunched. Following the announcement, VINE’s market value surpassed $100 million.

VINE Token Utility

The following are some of the utilities of the VINE token:

Official Token for Vine Platform: VINE token is the official token for the Vine platform, a short video platform similar to TikTok that allows users to make and share 10-second films on social networks

Trade VINE Token: VINE tokens can be traded on cryptocurrency exchanges such as CoinEx. Trading commenced on January 23, 2025, with the VINE/USDT pair. This trading activity allows you to purchase, sell, or keep MOZ tokens based on your investing strategy on CoinEx.

The VINE token was listed in CoinEx on January 23, 2025. Tradings, deposits, withdrawals, and swapping were made available immediately.

The total supply of the VINE token is 1 billion, and Rus Yusupov addresses the public that he has 5% of the overall VINE supply, which is currently frozen. Although the dev lock is beneficial to the token, with the exception of Rus, who had a brief interaction with the Vine platform, the meme currency of the same name produced by him is similar to other Meme currencies, which is a hot topic unrelated to the Vine platform.

The resurrection of the Vine platform with the VINE token in connection with Elon Musk and its X platform is something that will impact the crypto market. The increase since its launch is a testament to this.
