Meta Denies Mining Power Glut: Renting Sometimes More Valuable than Owning

BlockBeats News, July 10th, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the company needs to acquire as much computing power as possible. However, in a market where there is a shortage of resources necessary for running and developing AI products, he is also considering whether renting out some of Meta's AI infrastructure to external companies could bring higher value. Zuckerberg mentioned that in some cases, renting out computing resources or considering such transactions may be more reasonable than internal usage.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Meta is formulating a cloud business plan — which will help the company generate revenue directly through its data centers and other computing power collaboration projects. Zuckerberg said, "There is definitely potential for us to build a cloud service if we wanted to." He also noted that this does not mean Meta has overbuilt or has excess computing power. "I don't know anyone in the industry who thinks they have too much compute," he said. He added that Meta is currently maximizing the use of all its computing resources. (Golden Finance)
