BlockBeats News, July 10th, Zcash core developer Sean Bowe announced on the X platform that the Zcash Ironwood mainnet activation block height has been determined and marked as complete. All major organizations have committed to activating the NU6.3 upgrade at block height 3,428,143, scheduled for 12:00 PM GMT on July 28.
According to previous reports, this upgrade was prompted by the earlier Orchard Pool bug - a vulnerability that could have allowed an attacker to mint infinite fake ZEC. Due to the privacy nature of the Orchard Pool, the team could not ascertain if fake ZEC was minted before the bug fix. The Ironwood upgrade will take two core measures: first, introducing a new privacy pool using the Orchard protocol, gradually phasing out the old pool; and second, adding a control signal to the zk-SNARK circuit, which when activated can disable the function of transferring to other users in the pool, while retaining the change feature.
