BlockBeats News, July 21st, Grayscale has submitted a registration statement for the Grayscale Worldcoin ETF to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, planning to launch the first ETF pegged to Worldcoin (WLD). The fund will directly hold the World Network's native token WLD and passively track its value, net of the fund's expenses and other liabilities.
If approved, the ETF will be listed on Nasdaq under the Nasdaq Global Market Standard. The Bank of New York Mellon is set to act as the transfer agent, and the crypto custodian BitGo Bank & Trust is set to be the asset custodian.
WLD currently has a market capitalization of about $1.3 billion, ranking 57th among cryptocurrencies. Worldcoin, later renamed to World, was co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, with operations involving biometrics, crypto assets, and blockchain identity verification.
This application is the latest move by Grayscale to expand its crypto investment products. The company has previously launched Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and applied for funds pegged to assets such as Dogecoin, Solana, and Chainlink.
