CoinEx News: On July 27, 2026, Fundstrat’s Tom Lee told CNBC that crypto is having its “1934 moment.” He compared the current drive for the Clarity Act to the 1934 creation of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, when scattered state rules forced the need for one national regulator.
The Clarity Act would create a single federal body, mainly the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), to oversee crypto. Lee said banks and asset managers want to tokenize assets and build stablecoin systems but currently face different rules in every state, which slows them down. He noted prediction-market odds of the bill passing this year have fallen to around 30%. Japan, Russia and Europe are already advancing similar clear rules.
