Developer dapplion expressed support for the idea, while Lighthouse client contributor michaelsproul believes that this adjustment will not cause significant issues for Lighthouse operation. The proposal indicates that as Ethereum's historical data requirements change, reducing the Consensus Layer's historical block retention time can optimize node resource usage.

During the discussion, it was mentioned that Historical Data Pruning in the Execution Layer (EL) may impact some long-running nodes providing old block data. However, developers believe this will not threaten network security or disrupt node operation. Currently, EIP-12188 has not been merged and still requires further review and community discussion.
