Swiss Hardware Wallet BitBox Fixes Two Firmware Flaws After Internal Audit
  • BTC0%

CoinEx News: Swiss hardware-wallet maker BitBox shipped the Dixence firmware update, version 9.26.5. The firm said its own audit found two severe bugs in the code that runs on the device. The first is a memory-corruption issue on Multi-edition BitBox02 and BitBox02 Nova units that have not yet been set up as a wallet and are connected to a hostile computer; that path could let an attacker run extra code and try to load malicious firmware. The Bitcoin-only edition does not contain the affected code. The second is a Silent Payments flaw—Silent Payments let a user receive bitcoin without posting a reusable address—that could send coins to the wrong address and lock them there. BitBox said it has no reports that any of these issues were used or that user funds were stolen.
