What Is Index Price
Index Price is a weighted average derived from spot market prices across multiple major exchanges. It is updated every 5 seconds and is designed to reflect the fair market value of an asset.
The referenced exchanges mainly include: Binance, OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, Gate.io, and others.
Index Price Calculation
CoinEx selects several major exchanges to form the weighted components of the Index Price and includes an exception‑handling mechanism to ensure that if a single exchange shows an abnormal price, the Index Price can still remain within a reasonable range. For details, please refer to the “Index Price Protection Mechanism”.
When the price from a certain exchange is excluded, the index calculation logic is updated as follows:
- Weight coefficient of each valid exchange = Theoretical weight of that exchange / (Sum of theoretical weights of all valid exchanges)
- Index Price = (Exchange A raw price × Exchange A weight) + (Exchange B valid price × Exchange B weight) + … + (Exchange Z valid price × Exchange Z weight)
