Recently, fraudsters have been impersonating CoinEx to scam users with currencies such as XPR, STEEM, TLOS, and WAXP.
Since these networks allow customized account names, scammers create accounts with names containing “CoinEx” to trick users into depositing to fake addresses under schemes like “deposit rebates” or “cross-chain investments.
Common Scam Tactics
After inducing you to make a transfer, scammers often:
- Disappearing after receiving funds
- Returning principal and small “profits” at first to gain your trust, then disappearing once you invest more.
Example:
In this case, the user followed the scammer's instructions to withdraw STEEM to a WAXP address. Upon logging into their account, they discovered that the STEEM and WAXP deposit addresses were inconsistent. The WAXP address the scammer directed them to withdraw to did not belong to CoinEx, but rather to an address controlled by the scammer.

Fraud Prevention Guide
1. Be Cautious of "Investment Guidance" from Strangers
Do not trust anyone who contacts you through social media platforms (Telegram, WhatsApp, LINE, etc.), especially those claiming to be "investment advisors," "insiders," or those who offer to guide you in trading or investing.
These people often use tempting phrases like high returns or guaranteed profits to lure you into unknown investment projects.
If anyone claims to be from an official platform, use CoinEx’s official verification channels to check their authenticity. You can also submit a ticket to contact us for confirmation.
2. Verify Tokens and Networks carefully
Please go to the deposit page to confirm the deposit information while transferring assets to CoinEx.
When transferring cryptocurrencies, make sure the coin type, network, wallet address, and Memo/Tag/Comment match exactly. Any error can result in lost funds that may never be recovered.
3. Protect Your Personal Information and Asset Security
Safeguard your account, passwords, private keys, seed phrases, and other sensitive information. Never share them with anyone. It is recommended to change the 2FA tool and login password regularly to enhance account security.
Do not share account details, transaction histories, wallet screenshots, or other sensitive information publicly or privately on social platforms, as these can be exploited by criminals.
