What is the Estimated Cost of Opening Position?
When opening a position, the system estimates the position size you can open and the cost based on the current price, fee rate, and your account balance. This estimation is referred to as the "Estimated Cost of Opening Position", which can be regarded as a consideration for your trades.
Key Estimated Factors
1. Estimated Opening Quantity
(1) Definition: The maximum number of contracts you can open based on your available balance.
(2) Calculation: Estimated opening quantity = Available balance ÷ Estimated cost per contract
(3) Example: If your available balance is 1,000 USDT and each contract costs 100 USDT, the estimated opening quantity is 10 contracts.
2. Estimated Cost
(1) Definition: The estimated total cost required to open the position.
(2) Calculation: Estimated cost = Cost per contract × Opening quantity
(3) Note: The estimated cost per contract includes the initial margin and the opening fee.

What is Initial Margin?
1. Definition: The minimum margin amount required to open a position. The larger the margin, the larger the position size you can open.
2. Calculation:
| Type | Initial Margin | Trading Fee |
| USDⓈ-Margined Contracts (e.g., BTCUSDT) | = Initial margin rate × Contract quantity × Order price | = Fee rate × Contract quantity × Order price |
| Coin-Margined Contracts (e.g., BTCUSD) | = Initial margin rate × Contract quantity × Contract face value ÷ Order price | = Fee rate × Contract quantity × Contract face value ÷ Order price |
Notes:
1. Hedging:
If your current order is to hedge an existing position (e.g., closing a long position with a short order), the hedged portion will not be included in the estimated cost.
For example, if you currently hold 10 long contracts, placing a short order ≤10 contracts will incur no cost. However, for orders exceeding 10 contracts, the cost of extra contracts will be included in the estimated cost.
2. Actual opening quantity:
The actual opening quantity is subject to factors such as your current position, maker orders, and risk control. Please refer to the final calculation displayed by the system and the actual order.
3. Risk reminder:
Before opening a position, please confirm your available balance and estimated cost for reasonable decision making.
