1.Project introduction

Irys is the world’s first programmable datachain enabling dynamic and flexible on-chain data storage with smart contract execution via the IrysVM. It supports temporary and permanent storage options, allowing data to actively flow and evolve across applications rather than remaining static. Utilizing a hybrid Useful Proof of Work and Stake consensus, validators stake $IRYS tokens to secure and maintain data partitions. The project aims to transform on-chain data from static vaults into valuable, programmable resources, powering a new ecosystem of decentralized applications.

2.Token application and distribution

Token application

$IRYS is the native utility and settlement token of Irys, used to pay fees for data storage—both temporary and permanent—and execution on IrysVM. Validators stake $IRYS to participate in consensus, earn block rewards of 2% annual issuance (halving every four years), and share network fees. Network fees are denominated in $IRYS with a minimum fee of $0.001 per transaction. The model includes deflationary mechanisms burning 50% of execution fees and 95% of term-storage fees, supporting a self-sustaining economy.
