Retail Investors Slowing Down US Stock Purchases: Net Purchase of $13 billion in the past month, the lowest level since 2020

BlockBeats News, July 11th, according to VandaTrack data, in the past month, retail investors net bought $13 billion worth of US stocks, the lowest level since 2020. Since the beginning of 2026, retail investors' monthly net purchase amount has decreased by $18 billion, a 58% decrease. At the same time, net individual stock purchases have decreased by $8 billion, a 71% decrease, to $3.2 billion, the lowest level since the first quarter of 2020.

Nevertheless, the total amount of retail investors' positions has reached a record $500 billion, doubling since mid-2024. Currently, the selling pressure from retail investors is almost as strong as the buying pressure, compressing the net buying amount. Retail trading activity in the market is cooling down.
