BlockBeats News, July 19th, Ostium released an update on the attack incident. Its liquidity provider treasury was attacked on July 15th, resulting in a loss of 23,752,746 USDC. Preliminary investigations show that the attacker breached the off-chain infrastructure providing price data to the protocol, submitted disguised illegal price reports, and extracted artificially generated profits from the treasury through rapid opening and closing of multiple large positions.

Ostium stated that traders' collateral is held in a separate isolated smart contract and was not affected by this incident; all trading positions remain open. The team paused trading and froze all trading contracts within 60 minutes of the first attack transaction. Currently, Ostium is collaborating with Mandiant, zeroShadow, Collisionless, SEAL 911, and law enforcement agencies, coordinating with exchanges, bridging contracts, and stablecoin issuers to advance the investigation. The engineering team is actively working on repairing and enhancing relevant infrastructure to support a secure resumption of trading.

Ostium mentioned that traders will be notified at least 24 hours in advance of the trading contract unfreezing. Upon resumption of trading, existing positions will be marked to market at the price when trading resumes, unaffected by price fluctuations during the suspension period. Supporting the affected liquidity providers and ensuring a secure recovery of trading operations remain the current top priorities.
