Grayscale's Director of Research, Zach Pandl, stated in a latest report that global investors are gradually reducing their reliance on traditional stocks and bonds, with alternative assets becoming a key part of investment portfolios. This trend could provide long-term growth momentum for crypto assets.

The report highlights that since the 2008 global financial crisis, the global alternative asset market has grown nearly 7-fold. Private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real assets, and crypto assets have seen increasing allocations in global portfolios.

In terms of intergenerational asset allocation preferences, younger investors show a stronger interest in alternative assets. A survey by Bank of America among high-net-worth investors revealed that investors aged 21 to 43 on average allocate 53% of their portfolios to assets outside of traditional stocks and bonds, while investors above 44 years old only allocate 26%.

Grayscale stated that over the next few years, over $100 trillion in wealth is expected to transfer to the younger generation. This generational preference for alternative assets could become a key support for the long-term development of the crypto market.

The report suggests that a key reason for the growth of alternative assets is the lowering of investment barriers. With the emergence of new financial products and trading platforms, investors can participate in alternative asset investments without relying on complex infrastructure or professional expertise. The crypto market has also undergone similar developments, with regulated Bitcoin ETF/ETP products and institutional-grade market infrastructure providing investors with more convenient and familiar allocation channels.

Grayscale concludes that the allocation percentage of alternative assets among young investors continues to rise, especially with the increasing acceptance of crypto assets, which may drive further expansion of the crypto asset class.
