BlockBeats News, August 19th, Google has agreed to acquire certain corporate data from the bankrupt airline Spirit Airlines for $10 million, to enhance its products and AI models.
The related data includes internal emails, Microsoft Teams chat records, calendars, spreadsheets, bookings, and frequent flyer records, as well as marketing, productivity, operations, and HR data. Spirit stated that the data handed over to Google will undergo desensitization to remove personally identifiable information.
This transaction is also facing competition. The AI data company Mercor previously bid $7.5 million to purchase the related data. The transaction is still subject to approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, with U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane expected to review the deal this Wednesday local time.
Spirit Airlines ceased operations in May this year and is selling off remaining assets through bankruptcy proceedings. As AI companies increase their demand for high-quality training data, internal corporate data is becoming a new data asset for AI model training and product optimization.
