US-Iran MOU Expires Without Extension: Oil Edges Higher on Hormuz Constraints

CoinEx News: The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed by the United States and Iran on June 17 expired on August 17 after its 60-day window for a final deal. Neither side agreed to extend it. US President Donald Trump said Washington would not seek a renewal. Iranian officials said the deadline had become irrelevant after earlier US violations of the terms.

Brent crude traded near $91 a barrel and WTI near $85 on August 19, up from the mid-$87 and low-$80s levels seen earlier in the week. Restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continued to feed supply concerns after the talks window closed. Higher oil prices add cost pressure in energy markets. The stalled process leaves the waterway constrained for now.
