Bitcoin Slips Below $80,000: Will Today's PCE Restart the Rally?
  • BTC0%

CoinEx News: Bitcoin slipped back under $80,000 on August 26 after a three-month high near $81,200 on August 25. That rebound followed the Treasury’s August 19 plan to raise long-dated bond buybacks from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation from September 9. US spot Bitcoin ETFs — funds that hold actual Bitcoin — took in $314.3 million on August 25 after $337.6 million on August 24, lifting August inflows to about $3.05 billion. The next print is July PCE inflation at 8:30 a.m. ET on August 26, the Fed’s preferred consumer-price gauge.

Price is pausing after a steep week. Bitcoin’s pullback looks more like consolidation than a confirmed reversal. ETF demand remains positive, but while stablecoin supply has yet to show a broad influx of new capital. A softer-than-expected core PCE reading could lower Treasury yields and revive demand for risk assets; a hotter print would reinforce the case for higher rates and test whether ETF buyers can absorb profit-taking. The larger Treasury buybacks do not begin until September 9, so their effect on Bitcoin has so far come through expectations rather than actual liquidity.
