Per The Information, the AI Beat newsletter reported that the Trump administration's recent executive order to establish a new AI self-regulatory organization has stalled. Sources familiar with the matter stated that the White House has circulated a draft of the executive order internally in the past few weeks, but the plan has not progressed further.

Prior to this, the Trump administration has been advocating for the creation of a unified AI regulatory framework and limiting individual states from enacting conflicting AI regulations. If this new regulatory agency plan continues to be delayed, it may further slow down the development of the United States' federal-level AI industry regulatory system.
