BlockBeats News, September 2nd, Kalshi's Head of Institutional Business, Andy Ross, stated that Kalshi has submitted an application to regulators to launch forex and interest rate-based perpetual contracts. The application was submitted on Monday and as of Tuesday afternoon had not appeared in the public filing system of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Prior to this, in May of this year, CFTC approved Kalshi to launch a Bitcoin perpetual contract, followed by ETH and XRP perpetual contracts. Kalshi has since extended perpetual contracts to assets beyond cryptocurrencies, having submitted applications for gold, silver, and platinum perpetual contracts in July, and for U.S. stock indices and copper perpetual contracts on August 18th.
Ross mentioned that Kalshi aims to include various assets such as stocks, commodities, cryptocurrencies, fixed income, and interest rates in a unified trading interface. Currently, the platform's market count has increased from around 4000 to about 10,000, with activity gradually shifting from a few popular markets to a more widespread array of markets.
