CoinEx News: On September 1, 2026, U.S. crude settled at $90.22 a barrel (+5.2%) and Brent at $94.65 (+4.6%) after new U.S. strikes on Iran. Spot gold fell to about $4,375 an ounce, a two-week low, and bitcoin traded near $77,000–$78,000. Odds of a 0.25-point Fed hike on September 16 rose to about 66%–70% on CME-linked measures, from near 40% before Chair Kevin Warsh’s August 28 speech.
The oil surge revived inflation fears and pushed bond yields higher, making gold and bitcoin less attractive than interest-paying assets. The Fed’s September decision now depends on upcoming jobs and inflation data, and whether oil stays near $90. Until those signals soften, higher-rate expectations will keep pressure on gold and bitcoin.
