Cursor Cloud Agent finally gets a real Mac: Each session can now spin up an M5
  • CLOUD0%

Dynamic Beating AI News Flash: Cursor has connected Cloud Agents to Namespace Devboxes. Now, when running an Agent, you can directly choose a macOS environment. The Namespace will temporarily spin up an Apple M5 Mac for each session, allowing the Agent to code, compile, and run tests on a real macOS.

This addresses a practical limitation of Cloud Agents. Cursor's default cloud-based development environment has always been Ubuntu. While it's fine for web and backend issues, when it comes to iOS and macOS native development, Linux simply cannot perform full builds. Previously, someone in the Cursor community specifically inquired about when Cloud Agents would be able to run Mac.

This time, it's not about layering Mac compatibility on Linux. Cursor still handles model inference and task planning, while real shell commands, file modifications, Git operations, compilation, and testing are all handed over to the macOS DevBox in the Namespace. Once the task is completed, this DevBox will be destroyed.
