Visa combines VisaNet data with on-chain lending to provide financing for stablecoin payment companies.

BlockBeats News, September 9 - Visa announced that it will combine VisaNet payment settlement data with on-chain lending infrastructure to provide working capital financing for stablecoin payment card programs and fintech companies.

Visa stated that there are currently over 160 stablecoin-linked card programs on its network, with payment transaction volume growing nearly 200% year-over-year. As stablecoin payments grow rapidly, the working capital needs of related companies are also increasing, but traditional financial institutions typically require companies to have a certain scale and operating history, making it more difficult for emerging payment companies to secure financing.

Under the new framework, with customer authorization, Visa can combine settlement receivable data from VisaNet with on-chain transaction records to assess borrowers' credit performance and automate parts of the settlement financing process. In simple terms, stablecoin card programs can in the future use receivables generated from their own payment settlements as a basis for financing.

Visa has previously tested this model with decentralized lending platform Credit Coop. Since 2023, the model has supported over $2.5 billion in financing settlement transaction volume, with participating financing mechanisms achieving zero defaults and completing over 3,000 borrowings and 9,000 repayments on-chain.

Visa stated that its stablecoin settlement transaction volume has now reached an annualized scale of over $20 billion, growing approximately 15-fold year-over-year. As the scale of stablecoin payments continues to expand, the company is attempting to further convert payment data into on-chain financing capabilities.
