Consensys inadvertently hired a North Korean developer to undertake software development work and has launched a comprehensive investigation

BlockBeats News, July 18th, Blockchain company Consensys inadvertently allowed a software developer associated with North Korea to access part of the company's internal systems for about a month.

Earlier this year, Consensys hired a software development consultant using the alias Tyler Knapp, only to later discover the individual's connection to North Korea. This incident led Consensys to temporarily halt product releases and initiate an internal investigation.

Consensys Chief Legal Officer Matt Corva stated: "‘Knapp’ was introduced to us through our collaboration with a reputable third-party service provider and worked with Consensys in a consulting capacity. He was never a formal employee of Consensys. We quickly identified this security threat soon after his onboarding, promptly terminated all his access rights following our security protocols, and launched a comprehensive investigation. The investigation confirmed that no assets or data were misappropriated, no malicious code was deployed, and neither user security nor assets were impacted."
