The US Treasury Department Removes Some Iran-Related Sanctions but Does Not Signal a Policy Shift

BlockBeats News, August 5th, according to Fox News, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has removed a portion of the sanctions related to Iran from its website. A Treasury official stated: "This does not represent any change in U.S. policy towards the Iranian government, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force, any designated terrorist organization, or their supporters or agents. Today's delisting is part of routine administrative process and was taken after a review of the specific circumstances related to Fly Baghdad."

Earlier, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) officially released an "Update to Delisting of Specially Designated Global Terrorist", lifting some of the sanctions related to Iran, including the removal of Fly Baghdad from the sanctions list. Fly Baghdad was previously sanctioned due to its association with the Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force and was listed under counterterrorism sanctions.
