Insight Beat AI News Flash: OpenAI has fully rolled out GPT-6 Astra to Plus, Pro, and Business users. Yesterday, Astra was still in a phased rollout, leaving many Pro users unable to access it; today, both Plus and Pro users can now use it in ChatGPT Work and Codex. Chief Product Officer Thibault Sottiaux stated that the team's system scalability was stronger than anticipated, allowing for a quick completion of this full rollout.

Initially, Astra was only available to a small number of enterprise customers. OpenAI had originally planned to gradually open it up over a few days. After many paid users were left waiting, Sam Altman apologized for this "botched release." The team now reports that the system's scalability is better than expected, resulting in an early rollout to Plus users as well.

The promised compensation is also being delivered. Eligible existing Plus, Pro, and Business users can each claim a banked reset on September 3rd and 4th. This functions as a Codex full reset ticket that can be manually redeemed in the future, refreshing both the 5-hour and weekly quotas. Accounts newly created or upgraded before 11:00 AM on September 5th (Beijing time) will also receive this reset.

Although Plus users can now access Astra, their quotas are not generous. OpenAI currently estimates that Plus users can process approximately 5–45 Astra local messages every 5 hours, compared to 10–100 messages with GPT-5.6 Sol. Actual consumption varies based on task length, inference intensity, and tool usage.
