Claude login email exposes 'Invisible Tracking' feature, IP inference location triggers user privacy concerns
  • GPS0%

BlockBeats News, July 1st. According to Watcher Beating Monitor, recent location prompts in authentication emails from Anthropic's AI assistant, Claude, have sparked user discussions. Some users have noticed that when Claude sends login codes or security alerts, it includes a rough location of the login, such as the country, region, or city. This detail has refocused attention on how AI service providers identify user access points.

This type of location is usually not precise GPS coordinates but is inferred based on IP address, network connection, and device information. When using a VPN, proxy server, corporate network, or mobile carrier network, the location shown in the email may not match the user's actual location. Anthropic's privacy policy states that the company collects IP addresses, device information, connection information, and location inferred from the IP for security, anti-fraud, and terms of service enforcement purposes.

Claude users have been particularly sensitive to this issue, partly because the service is not yet available in all regions, and cross-border usage, overseas accounts, and third-party routing services are more common in the Chinese community. Recently, there has been feedback from the Chinese user community about some accounts being suspended or requiring re-verification, which some users have referred to as the "account suspension wave."
