BlockBeats News, August 15th. Berkshire Hathaway submitted its 2026 second quarter 13F holdings report to the U.S. SEC, revealing that in the second quarter following Warren Buffett's retirement, the company's investment portfolio underwent significant adjustments. Berkshire made a large purchase of Alphabet, Google's parent company, while reducing its positions in the financial and consumer sectors.

As of June 30, 2026, Berkshire's stock holdings' total market value rose to $29.9 billion, up from $26.3 billion in the previous quarter. During the second quarter, the company added 1 new holding, increased its stakes in 7 stocks, reduced its positions in 6 stocks, and exited 1 position, with the top ten holdings accounting for as much as 88.74%.

The highlight was Alphabet, with Berkshire accumulating approximately 48.1 million shares of Alphabet Class A and Class C stock during the second quarter, with a new holding value exceeding $17 billion. This pushed Google to replace Bank of America as Berkshire's fourth largest holding. Currently, its top five holdings are Apple, American Express, Coca-Cola, Alphabet, and Bank of America.

In addition to Google, Berkshire also slightly increased its stakes in Delta Air Lines, Lennar, and Macy's. Of particular note was the increased stake in Delta Air Lines, with the market believing that this move may reflect the company's optimism about the recovery of air travel demand and operational improvements.

Regarding reductions, Berkshire significantly reduced its positions in the financial and consumer sectors during the second quarter. Notably, it reduced its Bank of America holdings by approximately 30.2 million shares, a decrease of 5.89% in its position, with a corresponding market value of around $1.72 billion, making it the largest reduction target. First Capital Financial reduced its holdings by around 4.2 million shares, a decrease of about 58% in its position. Additionally, Berkshire reduced its Kroger holdings by around 11 million shares, a decrease of approximately 22% in its position size.

The market believes that Berkshire ended its streak of net stock sales spanning 14 consecutive quarters in the second quarter, instead making net purchases of nearly $20 billion in stocks, indicating that the new leader, Greg Abel, is steering the investment portfolio towards technology and growth, signaling a shift in asset allocation in the "post-Buffett era."
