BlockBeats News, September 2, Flop Labs, led by CEO Arthur Hayes, is building a compute marketplace for AI agents, positioning the FLOP token as a native payment asset for AI agents to access compute and memory resources.
Flop Labs stated that NVIDIA's quarterly data center revenue has reached $89 billion, a 117% year-on-year increase. However, currently, users often need to contact sales representatives to inquire about the price of GPU compute power per hour. The project aims to publicly price and trade compute power as a bulk commodity like oil and grains, enabling AI agents to directly purchase compute power from miners. Validators will re-execute some computation tasks and validate the work provided by miners.
The core mechanism revolves around "Proof of Useful Inference": Miners provide GPU compute power to process AI inference requests, validators are responsible for checking the computation results, and AI agents use FLOP to purchase compute power and related resources.
Currently, Flop is still in its early stages. The project previously announced plans to conduct a large-scale FLOP airdrop in the fourth quarter of 2026 and is scheduled to launch the genesis block in the first quarter of 2027.
