Galaxy Research Director: Bitcoin Policy Research Institute Seeks to Intervene in Abandoned Bitcoin Case, Aims to Sway Court to Dismiss Entire Lawsuit
  • BTC0%

BlockBeats News, July 11th, Galaxy Research Director Alex Thorn announced on social media that the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) has officially filed a motion to intervene in the high-profile "Noah Doe" case and participate as a defendant in the lawsuit. BPI stated that its application was made in accordance with relevant provisions of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules and had not previously made a similar application to any court.

According to the filed documents, BPI, in its proposed answer, categorically denied the main allegations in the plaintiff's complaint, only acknowledging that the plaintiff seeks declaratory relief in this case. For other allegations, BPI either denied them or stated a lack of sufficient information to form a judgment. BPI also introduced itself as an organization founded in 2021, based in Washington, D.C., as a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to researching the policy and societal impact of Bitcoin and emerging monetary network and conducting independent research free from influence by cryptocurrency companies or exchanges.

The case has attracted significant market attention as it involves an anonymous individual attempting to use legal proceedings to claim a substantial amount of Bitcoin allegedly owned by Satoshi Nakamoto. With BPI's application to intervene as a defendant, the organization stated that it will oppose the plaintiff's claims and seek the court's dismissal of the entire lawsuit.
