BlockBeats News, July 20th, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong responded to recent discussions about his X account avatar change and the Base community's "lack of support," expressing gratitude for the community feedback and acknowledging his previous failure to clearly communicate relevant expectations.
Armstrong emphasized that users should not consider his personal X account content as investment advice or token trading signals. He stated that the content he posts is mainly internet content he finds interesting or amusing, and he may not be aware of whether the content is related to a token or project. His personal avatar and posts also do not represent endorsement or commitment to any project.
In response to the Base community's desire for more support, Armstrong stated that Base aims to build financial services infrastructure, supporting applications such as tokenized stocks, lending protocols, stablecoin payments, and meme coin trading. He mentioned his support for economic freedom but clarified that he would not use his personal account to shill or promote specific tokens.
Armstrong mentioned that Coinbase does indeed have many tokens it wishes to list, but due to compliance and regulatory requirements, it cannot support all of them. Additionally, the Base team will not promote specific projects or tokens to users.
He outlined that Coinbase and Base currently support ecosystem development through activities such as offline Base Batches events, developer grants, Coinbase Ventures and Base Ecosystem Fund investments, and integrating excellent Base DeFi protocols into Coinbase products.
Armstrong stated that in the future, Coinbase will continue to lean towards supporting projects that can create long-term user value, while emphasizing that his personal social media content is "not investment advice."
