The bank has raised its forecast for 2026 technology, media, and telecom industry debt issuance from the previous $450 billion to $540 billion, citing the increased spending by large tech companies leading the AI investment cycle.
A team led by JPMorgan Chase strategist Erika Spear believes that chip-backed financing will become the "next major frontier" supporting AI infrastructure construction, with the scale potentially "expanding to trillions of dollars" by the end of this decade. JPMorgan Chase has identified seven investment-grade data center financing opportunities in addition to the six projects that have already been funded, with four expected to come from Oracle and OpenAI.
The bank anticipates that Meta Platforms will return to the bond market after announcing its third-quarter earnings, while Microsoft is seen as the "largest wildcard" and may tap bond investors for the first time since 2017.
