BlockBeats News, September 5th: Tesla's stock price closed down 5.92% on Friday, with a market value evaporating by about $88 billion in a single day (approximately 591 billion RMB). Just as Tesla considers Robotaxi as the next stage of growth engine, the commercialization of Cybercab faces a "double dilemma" of regulatory scrutiny and market expectations.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a review of about 1000 Cybercabs, focusing on Tesla's compliance process and technical data used when determining that certain federal motor vehicle safety standards do not apply. Due to Cybercab's lack of a steering wheel, accelerator, brake pedal, and traditional rearview mirrors, this review may affect its future deployment pace and operational area expansion.
At the same time, Tesla's Cybercab commercialization launch event in Austin was deemed "below expectations" by Wall Street, as it lacked specific deployment scale, production capacity targets, and timelines, with Musk himself absent. Analysts from Evercore ISI, Wells Fargo, Barclays, and JPMorgan all pointed out that the event lacked sufficient new information, which may pressure Tesla's stock price in the short term.
Nevertheless, Wall Street has not completely shifted its focus on Cybercab's long-term potential. JPMorgan expects Tesla's Robotaxi fleet to grow to about 9,000 vehicles by the end of 2027, while the Royal Bank of Canada predicts that by 2030, the number of Cybercabs in the U.S. market is expected to reach about 40,000.
