CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig stated: "Without a robust mining power derivatives market, the U.S. cannot win the AI race." He said that just as the U.S. market once established trading standards for commodity markets to drive the industrial economy, it will also establish corresponding rules for the "smart economy" of mining power commodities in the future. This RFI is the first step in establishing clear rules for the U.S. mining power market.

This RFI covers the size and liquidity of the mining power spot market and other market characteristics, as well as market surveillance, manipulation risks, customer protection, and mining power perpetual futures, and welcomes market participants to submit comments on other aspects of the mining power market. The comment period will last for 60 days after the relevant notice is published in the Federal Register.
