BlockBeats News, July 13th, Meta Platforms has pledged to further invest $40 billion in its large-scale data center campus located in Louisiana, USA, as the company continues to expand its artificial intelligence computing infrastructure. The total estimated investment in this project will exceed $250 billion. Meta announced on Monday that it will expand the data center project in the rural area of Louisiana to a minimum of 5 gigawatts (GW) of computing capacity, with a total investment of $50 billion.
Previously, the company had announced a $10 billion investment to build the data center and support the surrounding communities. In May of this year, there were reports that Meta planned to invest an additional $200 billion in this project, mainly for the acquisition of high-cost computing chips to be installed in this nearly 4,000-acre campus. According to a source familiar with the matter, this will bring the total estimated investment in the project to at least $250 billion. As of now, Meta has not disclosed any specific expenditures for this project beyond this $50 billion.
