BlockBeats News, August 18th. As the 60-day temporary technical agreement memorandum between the US and Iran expired, Iran announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the related conditions are met by the US, stating that it has shifted to a "full-on attack" strategic posture.
Iran's chief negotiator, Kalibaf, stated that the US must lift the blockade and oil sanctions on Iranian ports, release Iran's frozen assets, and completely cease military actions and threats on all fronts. The Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until these conditions are fulfilled.
Iranian Foreign Minister Arlaghi claimed that Iran will continue fighting until the other party accepts its conditions before agreeing to a ceasefire, stating that "Iran has won both the war and diplomacy."
Meanwhile, Trump stated that there are currently no negotiations or dialogues between the US and Iran underway or planned. The naval blockade remains fully effective, and he mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz is now open for normal operations, with related mines either removed or detonated.
At the same time, Iran is engaging in bilateral negotiations with Oman regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iranian media reports, the Iranian military is investigating the commercial maritime network that provides logistics support to the US military. They warned that companies or ship operators involved in transporting supplies for US actions against Iran may face economic, legal, and retaliatory measures.
