BlockBeats News, May 14th, Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform Party and Member of Parliament in the UK, is facing a formal investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner for failing to declare a personal gift of around $6.7 million from Thai billionaire Christopher Harborne. The gift was given before the 2024 election, and Farage described it as an "unconditional personal gift for personal security" and stated that it has been fully legally reviewed. However, under the House of Commons' rules of conduct, new MPs must register any declarable interests received in the 12 months before the election.

Harborne is a shareholder of the stablecoin giant Tether and has donated significant funds to the Reform Party (including a record-breaking £9 million last year), accounting for about two-thirds of the party's funding received last year. Harborne is also a strong supporter of cryptocurrency, while the Reform Party is the only major party in the UK that accepts crypto donations. If found in breach of the rules, Farage could face penalties such as a written/oral apology, suspension, or even expulsion from Parliament. Currently, both parties have not provided further responses to the investigation.
