Morgan Stanley: Memory Shortage Worsens, DRAM Prices to Increase by at Least 25% QoQ in Q3

BlockBeats News, July 21st, Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore stated that after discussions with several data center procurement professionals last week, he found that the current memory supply crunch shows no signs of easing. Prices of memory products such as DRAM are expected to rise by at least 25% from the second quarter to the third quarter on a like-for-like basis, surpassing both Morgan Stanley's and third-party analysts' previous expectations.

Moore pointed out that the memory shortage may worsen further in 2027 and 2028, as AI demand is consuming a significant amount of DRAM production capacity, impacting supply to other sectors such as PCs and smartphones. Morgan Stanley believes that the market is not only facing the challenge of growing AI memory requirements but also the memory shortage itself is becoming a key bottleneck limiting the expansion of AI.
