BlockBeats News, July 27th, QCP Capital released its latest Market Colour report stating that the U.S. stock market showed mixed performance last Friday, with the S&P 500 index rising 0.05% to 7412 points, the Nasdaq index falling 0.64% to 24976 points, and the Dow Jones index rising 0.46% to 51947 points. The market focus remains on the interest rate outlook.
The report pointed out that the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield fell back last week to around 4.67%, after rising to its highest level since January 2025, with oil prices weakness providing some support to yields. The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) remained stable, hovering around 101.4.
The market is currently awaiting the Federal Reserve's FOMC interest rate decision to be announced this Wednesday. The market widely expects the federal funds target range to remain unchanged, but investors will pay close attention to the policy statement and Fed Chair Warsh's remarks to assess officials' latest views on inflation and economic growth prospects.
On the cryptocurrency market front, QCP stated that despite the challenging macro environment, digital assets performed better in July than the traditional stock market. As of now, BTC and ETH have risen by approximately 11.6% and 24.6% respectively this month, demonstrating market resilience.
However, the flows into U.S. spot BTC and ETH ETFs have cooled off recently. On July 24th, the total net outflows of U.S.-listed spot BTC and ETH ETFs were approximately $311 million, ending the previous trend of seven consecutive days of inflows. QCP stated that ETF flows remain an important gauge of institutional participation and market sentiment.
Additionally, the market continues to monitor developments in U.S. digital asset regulation, with the proposed CLARITY Act remaining a key focus for the crypto market.
Regarding the options market, recent data shows that investors have increased demand for downside protection again, reflecting a renewed increase in hedging allocations after the risk asset adjustment. The short-term options implied volatility for ETH remains higher than BTC, perpetual contract funding rates remain positive, indicating an overall market long bias, but investors are hedging against short-term macro uncertainty.
