BlockBeats News, August 9th, according to Korean brokerage data, South Korean retail investors bought $4.6 billion worth of US stocks in July, a 627% increase from the previous month, marking the highest monthly purchase amount since January 2026. In contrast, there were net sales of $469 million and $9.4 billion in April and May, respectively. Furthermore, the July buying volume was also significantly higher than the 2025 monthly average of $2.7 billion. In 2025, South Korean retail investors saw their purchases of US stocks grow by over 3 times compared to 2024. Therefore, the amount of US stocks purchased by South Korean retail investors last month exceeded the amount spent on domestic stocks for the first time since February.

Meanwhile, the Korean Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) has dropped 33% from its peak in June, with about 75% of the decline attributed to the stock prices of the two major chipmakers, Samsung and SK Hynix.
